I'm a long time naturalist that loves studying the natural world around us, bearing the strong believe that we can't properly protect nature without good, science-based, communication.
I'm pursuing a PhD with a 5th year reserved for giving education and communicating to the general public. During the first year of my PhD I received a Comenius Teaching Fellowship and I joined the board of the ComeniusNetwork in 2022. Via this board I was involved in multiple nationwide projects on education and frequent meetings with OC&W. Recently, I joined the national steering-group R&R as advisory member, both for my involvement in education and my view on the matter as early carreer academic.
In addition to this, I was also elected as one of the Faces of Science from the KNAW in 2021, via which I write blogs on the NEMO kennislink websites. In addition, I can frequently be found in media, talking about my research projects, insects and nature in general.
