The joint Recognition & Rewards programme runs until the end of 2026.
The initiative for the Recognition & Rewards programme lies with the various umbrella organisations. UNL represents the fourteen universities, while the NFU represents the seven university medical centres. In addition, the institute organisations of the NWO and the KNAW are involved in the programme. The NWO and ZonMw also contribute to the programme as science funders. Lastly, from 2020, the Ideologically-based universities (Landelijk Netwerk van Levensbeschouwelijke Universiteiten, or NLU) have been involved in the programme. This network represents the University of Humanistic Studies and the three theological universities.
The costs of the local change approaches and local project teams are completely borne by the knowledge institutions themselves. Also, half of the costs of the national programme organisation are borne by the collaborating knowledge institutions. As the programme is in line with academic policy priorities, the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science has made a grant available for the period 2022-2026 to fund the other half of the national programme organisation.
