One of the focal points of our position paper “Room for everyone talent in practice”, is that academic institutions create opportunities for dynamic career paths. The underlying idea is that an academic career cannot be an unwieldy mould that suits everyone, but should be approached as a route taken by individuals with specific talents and their own development path.
The core domains of an acacemic remain research and teaching, with the possibility of placing accents on one or the other, or, for example, including impact or leadership as part of the growth process.
There also is attention for the relationship between individual and collective (team science) and, if relevant, patient care.
Each institution organises dynamisation in its own way. There are organisations that speak of profiles, others have set up a career framework, still others break open the R&O conversations and call it GROW: Conversations on Result, Development and Wellbeing.
An overview of the current national state around career paths can be found here (in Dutch).
If you want to go in depth per individual institution, read on in our Knowledge Base (mostly in Dutch).
And if you like to watch a very nice series about dynamic careers from Tilburg University, check Het Loopbaanpad (English subtitles available).
