Science Europe: a new vision on the future of research

Science Europe, a representative body for public funders in Europe, has published its vision on the future of research in Europe. There is considerable overlap with the goals of Recognition & Rewards and CoARA. Among other things, the new vision calls for more attractive research careers, recognising the diversity of academic contributions, and bolstering Open Science practices.

The document is not just a vision. Science Europe has also committed itself to its enactment. Given the influence of Science Europe on European funders, and funders in turn on their respective national research ecosystems, this is a highly positive development.
